Part 4: Homeless in Campbell, Through Gary's Eyes

This is the fourth installment of a video mini-series on homelessness through the eyes of Gary Dunn.

Two weeks ago, Campbell Patch introduced everyone to , who has lived on the South Bay's streets, in abandoned buildings and along various creeks for the last 10 years, most recently in Campbell.

This is the third installment of the mini-video series exploring what it's like to be in Silicon Valley, through Dunn's eyes.

This week he tells us a little about the people he has had interactions with along his journey. Sometimes, the stories are heartbreaking; others are just plain funny. All are his truths.

Gary Dunn talks about a German woman he met years ago. He doesn't know what her name is but simply calls her Helga. She picks up trash along the Los Gatos Creek Trail and scolds him if he doesn't keep his home clean.

Now the German woman looks out for Gary. She takes him food, clothing and keeps an eye on his things while he's away.

In Campbell, everyone in the downtown know who he is. Over the years, he's helped various business owners unpack inventory and take the trash out. He picks up trash and keeps Campbell Avenue clean. The customers at Orchard Valley all know and like him. They've given him food, bikes, even his laptop.
