Oktoberfest Gets High Tech

This year, organizers offer the public a way to get all the information via their smart phones.

Oktoberfest in downtown Campbell has it all: food, beer and live entertainment.

This year, Campbell Chamber of Commerce wants to add a quick way to find schedules, maps and information as well.

The Oktoberfest Mobile Website is making its debut this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13-14, Campbell Chamber of Commerce CEO Neil Collins says.

The mobile website, available through your smartphone's browser allows users to find the nearest ATM and bathrooms as well as know what time their favorite band will go on stage.

"We wanted to give people the information at their fingertips," Collins says.

The chamber was approached by local resident David Steele, who offered to develop the product for the organization.

"Mobile is the future and it made more sense to do a mobile website this year," Collins says. "We hope that people will find it as a benefit."

The site, Collins says, also has a feedback tab, which he hopes users will take advantage of to let the chamber know how it worked.

"We would love to hear of ways to improve it," he says. "It's just another piece of technology we could bring to the festival that we are excited about."
