On Thursday evening, Okashi Barkery held a fundraiser for Doggie Protective Services of Palo Alto, generating $826 for of the $1600 needed for a dog's hip surgery.
At $10 a pop, 30 people visited the Campbell store -- which specializes dog treats and clothes-- for their own goodies: cheese, deserts and wine.
"My teeny, tiny store was jammed packed," said owner Joanne Gutowski-Joplin.
The highlight of the event for Gutowski-Joplin was an unexpected one: a woman locked eyes with a pup that needed to be adopted, and carried him home that night.
"It was love on the spot," said Gutowski-Joplin of dog Piper and his new companion.
