Nominate A Woman of Distinction in Campbell

The city of Campbell honors women every year. Do you know a woman of distinction?

March is Women's History Month and to celebrate, Campbell is kicking off its fourth annual Women of Distinction awards.

“It is important that we recognize the achievements of our Campbell residents in recognition of March as Women’s History Month while also recognizing that we continue to strive for fullequality.” said Mayor Evan Low in a release.

This year’s theme is “Women Inspiring Innovation Through Imagination.”

In order to be nominated, women or girls must be a student, professional woman or community coordinator who lives or works within Campbell and has "exhibited exemplary service to the community—women who, through their innovation and imagination, have touched the lives of Campbell residents in a positive way."

This year, there are several categories women may be nominated for including:

  • Women Demonstrating Leadership
  • Women Creating Community
  • Women Working for Justice
  • Women Preserving the Environment
  • Women Serving the Military
  • Women Promoting Healthy Lifestyles
  • Women Contributing to the Arts
  • Women Demonstrating Leadership in Education
  • Women Innovating in Science/Technology

Previous women of distinction were recognized for their work in the non profit sector, with children and families and through medicine.

This is the award's fourth year and nominations should be sent to Campbell Recreation Director Cynthia Bojorquez, 408-866-2106, by Feb. 28, 2013 either via email at cynthiab@cityofcampbell.com or by dropping off in person at the  Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department, 1 W. Campbell Avenue, C31.

The awards will be presented at the Campbell City Council meeting on March 19.
