A memorial service for a 22-year-old young man who died in an unincorporated Los Gatos home last week will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, at The Home Church, 1799 Winchester Blvd., in Campbell.

Andrew Daou, a 2007 graduate of Valley Christian High School and a student at the University of San Diego, was found dead of a gunshot wound July 24 by Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies.

According to Pamela Watson, executive assistant to the president of Valley Christian schools, the service is being coordinated by well known Christian minister Mike Kiley, who presides over The Home Church in Campbell.

Andrew, described as a deeply spiritual and respectful youth who loved studying the scriptures and being of service to others, attended the Campbell church and

"We're expecting in the neighborhood of 800 people," Watson said. "The family is going to participate in the service and there will be a large representation from the school. Andrew was involved in so many different activities. He was heavily involved in Home Church."

On the Mercury News obituary page for Andrew, more than 38 people have left messages of condolences for Carmen Hamady Daou and Christina Daou, Andrew's mother and sister, respectively.

"He was a very popular, upbeat, positive and encouraging person," Watson said. "A lot of people have been touched by this tragedy. It just kind of jarred us. It's so sad ... how could it happen?"
