Local Bank Hosts 'Shred Day Bay Area'

Avoid identity theft and shred your sensitive documents at this event.

Can't stand the dust in your own home or the smell of paper being shredded inside a room?

Take your boxes of sensitive papers to this year's "Shred Day Bay Area," hosted by Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain.

The free, one-day event takes place on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the bank's Winchester Banking Center at 1245 S. Winchester Blvd.

Guests attending this shred-a-thon will be able to watch as their documents are destroyed on site. Each car is allowed four boxes or bags of paper, and only paper will be shredded. All shredded material will be recycled by Iron Mountain.

“It is so important to not throw sensitive documents in the trash,” said Susan Bell, Comerica’s vice president of fraud services in a release. “Shredding your documents will prevent someone from using your personal information to impersonate you.”
