Chihuahua-Palooza

May is “Chihuahua-Palooza” month at the Silicon Valley Humane Society. During the month of May, Santa Clara County residents receive $60 off  spay or neuter surgeries for Chihuahua or Chihuahua-mix dogs.

That means that male Chihuahua neuters are only $15, and female Chihuahua spays are $40. Spaying or neutering your pet extends its life expectancy and reduces behavior problems.

Eligible dogs must be between 4 months and 6 years old and weigh less than 25 pounds. Visit the humane society for complete details.

Pet of the Week

Meet Monte, a 6-year-old goldendoodle (poodle and golden retriever mix) with an irresistible face. He’s a gentle dog with a good disposition and gets along well with other dogs but can be a bit timid around people at first, until he gets to know you.

Monte craves daily exercise and companionship and enjoys having his ears rubbed and being brushed.

For more information on Monte and other dogs available for adoption, email Companion Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).
