Get Out in Campbell This Weekend!

A jazz concert, a blues concert and flamenco dance and music are just some of the offerings in and around Campbell this weekend. Enjoy!

It's Thursday, and the weekend is approaching. It might be getting warmer, but then again, it might not. So what are you going to do? "Get Out" of course! Campbell Patch has done some research for you. Here are our suggestions for some of the coolest things to do in and around Campbell this weekend. 

Where/When: Heritage Theater, 1 W. Campbell Ave. Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: To support Child Advocates of Silicon Valley. This concert by Taylor Eigsti is a special jazz performance to benefit this organization. So be there. Hear some great music and support a great cause. 

Pricing: Varies 

Where/When: Carriage House Theater, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga. Friday, 8 p.m. 

Why Go: Who can resist the allure of flamenco music and dance? It's magical, so don't miss this opportunity for a quick getaway to Spain.

Pricing: $20 general; $15 members

Where/When: Carriage House Theater, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga. Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Blues. Festival. All Star-Band. The name of the event says it all. You've got award-winning local and national talent in this group, so don't pass up the opportunity to hear some music that will really move you.

Pricing: $24-$32

Where/When: T, 300 College Ave., Los Gatos. Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: Be among the first to taste the 2009 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay and the 2009 Graham Family Vineyard Pinot Noir. Drop in anytime over the weekend. Reservations are not required.

Pricing: $10; members, free.

Where/When: The Mountain Winery, 14831 Pierce Rd., Saratoga. Sunday, 2-6 p.m.

Why Go: Be a good neighbor and help the Los Gatos Library and enjoy some wine and jazz at the same time. . A perfect combination and a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon! Tickets include wine flight tasting (five wines) and an afternoon of jazz featuring the Pentimento Jazz Band.

Pricing: $25 online; $30 at door

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
