Get Out in Campbell: Summer Concert Series, Rescue 25 Reception and More

A Campbell Veterans Memorial fundraiser, the Goo Goo Dolls and a Rescue 25 gathering.

Where/When: , 3016 Winchester Ave., Campbell, CA. Saturday at 10 a.m.

Why Go: California's for its retired paramedic vehicle is in recognition of Northern California's first paramedic program. After meeting their first fundraising goal, Rescue 25 is entering stage two, the actual restoration of the vehicle to its original service condition. Come out, enjoy a beverage and take part in the ceremonial deconstruction ceremony this weekend. After this event, the vehicle facelift begins!

Where/When: Blue Pheasant Restaurant, 22100 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino, CA. The event runs from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Why Go: West Valley Community Services presents Taste of Compassion hosted by Blue Pheasant Restaurant in Cupertino on Tuesday, August 23rd and Wednesday, August 24th. Half of the nights proceeds directly benefit services to prevent hunger and homelessness in Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno and West San Jose. Enjoy a great meal, for a great cause!

Pricing: $24 in advance, $26 at the door. 

Where/When: Saratoga Mountain Winery, 14831 Pierce Road, Saratoga, CA. Concert begins at 7:30 on Sunday night. 

Why Go: The Goo Goo Dolls are one of those bands that just keep hanging around. A consistent rock and pop group that seems to find a way to land a major hit or two on the airwaves every time they release a new album. The popular trio comes to the Bay Area this weekend, joined by artists Michelle Branch and Parachute for a outdoor concert experience that will surely close out your weekend in style. 

Pricing: Ticket prices range from $35 to $85.

Why Go: Bay Area Equity presents a fundraiser for a noble cause. Live Music, a hearty BBQ food spread, a car show and a bounce house for the kids will all by on site for this Saturday morning event. All money raised will go towards the building of the that is scheduled to be built at City Hall overlooking the .

Where/When: Orchard City Green between City Hall and , Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: The final concert of the summer is here. Campbell residents can soak up the R&B and dance beats from Sage to close out the summer music season in smooth fashion.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
