Get Out in Campbell: Long Live Life at the Retro Dome, The InnVision Fall Gala and More

Westmont High football squares off with nearby rival Prospect High this week in Campbell.

Where/When: Retro Dome, 1694 Saratoga Ave, San Jose, CA. Sunday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Why Go: "Long Live Life" presented by the Retro Dome in collaboration with the San José Chamber Orchestra and the National Jewish Theater Festival is an evening of affirmation and remembrance of the Jewish experience through music and text.  

Performers include a string quartet from the San José Chamber orchestra, a pianist, and singers Stephen Guggenhiem, tenor, Layna Chianakas, mezzo-soprano, Allison Charney, soprano and Kevin Nakatani, bass. All the music was written by prominent composers while they were detained at the camp.

Pricing: $50

Where/When: Casa de Fruta, 10031 Pacheco Pass Hwy, Hollister, CA. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Why Go: Join the villagers of Willingtown as they celebrate Bacchanal and the traditional feast of Michelmas. This weekend is a visual treat as garlands and masks are donned by men and women.

Patrons are encouraged to wear a mask and/or garland. A beautiful selection of both can be found at the faire, or you may choose to have a mask painted on. Each weekend provides a new adventure an the annual faire. Don't miss out on all the mischief and fun to be had!

Pricing: $25 general admission. $35 for a weekend pass. 

Where/When: , 35 S 2nd St, Campbell, CA. Saturday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Why Go: The annual InnVision Fall Gala fundraising event, “Haute Havana Nights,” at Villa Ragusa in historic downtown Campbell. 

The 2011 InnVision Fall Gala will feature a sizzling fashion show, zesty food and drinks, and a smoking hot live auction. Support a noble cause and have some fun this Saturday! 

Pricing: $150

Where/When: E Campbell and N. Central avenues, Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Get your Sunday off to the right start by shopping for brunch (and more) at the Farmers' Market. Get outside, mingle with your neighbors and pick up some great and healthy food.

Where/When: , 4805 Westmont Ave, Campbell, CA. Friday, 7:00 p.m. 

Why Go: The Westmont High football team squares off against nearby rival Prospect High this Friday night. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. at Westmont High in Campbell.

The Warriors defeated Monta Vista High-Cupertino 28-13 last Friday night to earn it's first win of the season. Prospect also comes into the non-league affair with a 1-1 mark overall. The Panthers topped Fremont High-Sunnyvale 21-9 last weekend. Westmont begins league play on Oct. 1 at Sobrato High in Morgan Hill.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
