What a weekend in Campbell! Forget about sleeping! A fundraiser, a performance by a jazz great, art walks,our own Boogie on the Bayou festival, a wine stroll in a neighboring town and Silicon Valley open studios; our suggestions to Get Out in Campbell thi

Where/When: , 1875 S Bascom Ave. Thursday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go:  This is a community event to benefit programs for adults with disabilities.  Employment & Community Options helps people with developmental disabilities to find and keep jobs. Come to help out and to enjoy a silent auction, appetizers, drinks and and live music.

Pricing: $30

Where/When: Heritage Theatre,   1 W Campbell Ave. Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Arturo Sandoval is the king of jazz trumpet and flugel horn. That's not all he does of course — Sandoval is recognized as a classical artist, pianist and composer. awarded 4 Grammy Awards, 6 Billboard Awards and an Emmy Award. And how he is in Campbell for the night. Lucky us!

Pricing: $46 individual tickets; $41 season tickets

Where/When:  1628 W Campbell Ave., Friday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Why Go: This is the monthly downtown Campbell ArtWalk — this Friday, a prelude to the weekend's Boogie on the Bayou festivities.  Enjoy this stroll on your own, tour on your own art walk.

Pricing: Free

When/Where: Saturday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 14460 Big Basin Way, Saratoga

Why Go: The day's event is called "Bonnets & Blooms:" and is the first of what is to become an annual springtime wine stroll in downtown Saratoga Village. You will be able to sample wines form 18 local wineries, including Aver Family Vineyards, Big Basin Vineyards, Jazz Cellars, House Family Winery, Generosa, SKOV, Villa del Monte and more.  There will be jewelry sales, art on display and live music, too. More going on than we can tell you about here, so think about heading to Saratoga Saturday.

Pricing: $35 in advance, $40 day of (if available)

Where/When:  Various locations in Los Gatos, Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy,  Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, San Jose and Saratoga. In Campbell, visit the studios of at 876 Dry Creek Road. Saturday, Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: This is your opportunity to see many artists at work in their studios and really explore the art and the artists of Silicon Valley.  At Dry Creek in Campbell, gourd artist Jo Cooley is joined by 8 other artists showing and selling paintings, jewelry, paper arts, textiles, gourd sculptures, figures, birdhouses and vessels as part of the Silicon Valley Open Studio event. And if you venture beyond, the artists are there to talk with you, answer your questions and give you some real insights into what they do and why they do it the way that they do it. This is the last weekend of this 25th anniversary event so take advantage of the chance to explore our local art world. For more specifics about studio locations, visit on our calendar.

Where/When: , 1628 W Campbell Ave. and throughout Downtown Campbell, Saturday, Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: We highlighted this in our kids planner. But if you don't have kids, you may have missed it, although we doubt that you are unaware of the festival this weekend. Still we want to be sure. This festival attracts big crowds so expect Historic Downtown Campbell to be packed. With good reason. The festival features more than 200 booths with arts, crafts, and more. Live entertainment throughout the weekend, as well as a focus on cajun and New Orleans Style Food. Enjoy!

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
