Get Out in Campbell: Egyptian Festival, Final Sundown Cinema, and Harry Potter

The 3rd Annual Egyptian Festival takes place all weekend long in Campbell.

Where/When: , 349 E Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA. Friday, 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Why Go: Join your fellow Campbell neighbors and enjoy this summers final feature showing "E.T." , a sci-fi classic. The parking lot opens at 6:30 pm and shows usually begin between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m., once it's dark enough to see the film.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: 3160 N Shoreline Blvd, Mountain View, CA, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: You won't find a better place to snatch up a new toy to use for the rapidly approaching Labor Day weekend. Browse through the hearty selection of water sports items, including kayaks, sailboats, rowboats, windsurfers, the occasional pedalboat and more! The event has been a local rite of passage for the past decade. 

Pricing: Free to attend. Prices vary on items for sale. 

Where/When:  , 395 W Rincon Ave, Campbell, CA. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: The 3rd Annual Egyptian Festival of Campbell will run all weekend long and will highlight Egyptian culture dating back to it's coptic origins. A raffle to a win a new 2012 Ford Mustang or $15,000 will also be held on Sunday. Raffle tickets are $10 and help pay for the event.

Where/When: The Tech Museum, 201 S. Market St., San Jose. 

Why Go: Hackworth IMAX theater presents the final installment of the worldwide-hit series of Harry Potter films written by author J.K. Rowling. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" will be shown twice a night all week long. Don't miss out on one of your last chances to see the series finale on the big screen. 

Pricing: Ticket prices vary based on membership and day of the week. 

Where/When: Dance Effects, 58 E Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday each week at 9 a.m.

Why Go: Zumba is a fusion of hypnotic rhythms and tantalizing moves inspired by Latin and world dances to create a dynamic workout that is fun and easy. The studio now offers seven classes a week!

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
