Four Things to Do in Campbell This Weekend

Campbell is loaded with events every week. Here's our "short list" of things to check out before the weekend's over.

It's Fall in Campbell and the weather has been a little goofy but that hasn't dampened the mood in the Orchard City.

Festivals, art shows and a really good garage sale are all up this weekend. If we forgot any events, please let us know what, who, when and where in the comments section below.

For now, here’s our short list of fun events this weekend:

1. Art Walk

Downtown Campbell invites visitors to stroll Campbell Avenue and take in all the local artists and their work. The event is free and takes place today, Friday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Galleries not to be missed:

  • Debbie Marie Gallery/Heartworks
  • Sonya Paz Fine Art Gallery
  • Vis a Vis Quilt Gallery
  • Bela La Vie
  • Simply Smashing

2. Forest Hill Elementary Country Faire

Forest Hill Elementary, 4450 McCoy Ave. San Jose, is hosting its school fundraiser carnival on October 20, the school hosts their fundraiser with food trucks, games, a silent auction and of course, a cakewalk.

3. Citywide Garage Sale

The Campbell On Sale is a bargain hunter's dream. More than 200 residents throughout the city will offer up their wares this Saturday, October 20  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check the Campbell Express for a map of locations or pick one up at one of the following locations in Campbell:

  • AM/PM Mini Market, 2015 Winchester Boulevard
  • Campbell City Hall
  • Campbell Community Center
  • Campbell Library
  • Goodies Coffee Shop
  • Nob Hill
  • Safeway Store, 2341 Winchester Boulevard
  • Safeway 950 W. Hamilton Avenue

4. Dia De Los Muertos in Campbell

Sonya Paz Gallery is hosting a Dia De Los Muertos art show on Saturday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m. The exhibit will showcase work from eight local artists including Christine Benjamin, Steve Caballero and John Cloud.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
