Five Things to Do This Weekend in Campbell

There's plenty to do in the Orchard City this weekend, starting tonight.

There's always so much happening throughout the Orchard City. Here's our list of five events to check out.

1. Outdoor Fitness Fun Social

Skip the gym and take the "work" out of workout. Mix socializing and fitness for an intense and interactive exercise experience.

2. Friends of Campbell Library booksale

Come buy some books and support your local library. All proceeds from book sales benefit the Campbell Library.

3. Stop by at the to Win a Super Bowl Party

Every time you come in through the end of January, drop your Mug Club receipt in the appropriate receptacle by the front door. On Feb 1, one lucky winner will be announced.

4. Take in a Show

More than 25 of Castlemont's finest talent will be performing the musical called A Year with Frog and Toad. Director Paul Sawyer is producing, with songs, dance and humor based on the wonderful children's book series.

5. Take in a Movie

The Camera Cinema 7s will be offering a final viewing of Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
