Evan Low Newest VTA Board Member

Campbell Vice Mayor Evan Low to represent Campbell, Los Gatos and Cupertino.

Campbell, Los Gatos and Cupertino will be represented in all things local public transportation by the recently sworn in Vice Mayor Evan Low.

Low became a board member at the VTA's Jan. 5 meeting and will serve as alternate board member to Vice Chair Joe Pirzynski as representative for City Group 3.

This group includes: Campbell, Cupertino, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and Los Gatos.

"I am honored to serve in this capacity as an alternate board member for the Valley Transportation Authority,” Low said in a release. “Public transportation is essential and I look forward to helping make public transportation more effective ..."

Low, who was first elected into Campbell City Council in 2006 was named Vice Mayor at the Dec. 6 Campbell City Council meeting.

"I'd like to focus on making public transit much more efficient," Low said on facebook. "Especially coming back from visiting other countries where public transit is part of the daily life."

The Orchard City opened up its newest public transportation stop at the Winchester Light Rail station in 2005 and is part of an overall plan to build an additional 1.57 mile extension to the Vasona Junction in Los Gatos, Low said in the release.

VTA meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 70 West Hedding St., San Jose.
