'Do You Know How Big that Thing Is?'

You cannot miss it. It looms above Campbell like an omnipresent being. It never stops moving, even after the crews leave for the day.

Campbell Patch has been asked several times about the large crane at the on Winchester Boulevard. Construction site Superintendent Dan Schaeffer gave us some specs to share:

• The crane is a 316 Liebherr Tower Crane.
• It was brought to the site on semi trucks and erected.
• It is 265 feet long.
• Each segment, or stone, of the tower weighs approximately 5,000 pounds, with the exception of one, which weighs approximately 7,000 pounds.
• The tail weighs approximately 10,000 pounds.
• The jib, or front, weighs approximately 28,000 pounds.
• From the tip, it can lift approximately 6,000 pounds.
• From within 100 feet of the tower, it can pick up approximately 28,000 pounds.
