Cuatro for Cinco De Mayo: Tasty Treats and Drinks

It's this weekend ... here's our "short list" of places in Campbell to eat and drink in celebration.

For every holiday during the year, certain foods and drinks are associated with them: turkey for Thanksgiving, sparkling cider for the winter holidays, corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day and tequila for Cinco de Mayo.

Campbell businesses are offering their spin to this weekend's celebration with margarita-flavored donuts and cupcakes and more.

"Since we've created everything from donut sushi to pulled pork sandwiches on donut buns, it was only a matter of time before we transformed some of the greatest cocktails into a donut form factor," says Psycho Donuts owner Jordan Zweigoron. "Our two margarita donuts truly capture the flavors of a Strawberry Margarita and a Cadillac Margarita. Through the use of real cocktail ingredients, like tequila, limes, strawberries, and margarita salt, these specialty donuts are far more than novelties. They are truly gourmet masterpieces."

Ciano's Modern Latin Flavors is also jumping in to help Campbell celebrate the holiday this weekend.

"Ciano's Modern Latin Flavors menu consists of dishes from different regions of Latin America," says restaurant President and Founder Mario Lleverino.

According to Lleverino, the restaurant is holding a weekly contest (see below), using Cinco de Mayo to kick it off because:

  1. It is one of the most well-known Latin holidays in the US;
  2. It is close our restaurant's opening date (tentatively mid June);
  3. It is our way of showing thanks to our supporters, the city and community of Campbell for accepting Ciano's so open-heartedly.

"Once we open our doors, we will continue to celebrate Latin America holidays at Ciano's Modern Latin Flavors," he says.

Here's our "short list" of tastes and drinks to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Campbell.

1. Psycho Donuts

This downtown Campbell business is offering up two delectable donuts to celebrate this weekend's holiday: Strawberry and Cadillac Margarita donuts. Get 'em while they're hot!

2. Frost Cupcake Factory

The cupcake factory is at it again. After its St. Patrick's Day Guinness cupcake, Frost is tackling Cindo de Mayo with its Strawberry and Lime Margarita cupcakes. Available through May 5.

3. Ciano's Modern Latin Flavors

Although not open yet, Ciano's is still celebrating Cinco de Mayo and want to celebrate with Campbell by offering a chance to win tickets to an exclusive preview party. As part of this experience, the new restaurant offers the Oaxacan Mule: Ciano's version of the Moscow Mule. It is handcrafted with top shelf mescal, ginger beer and lime juice.  Check their Facebook page for details on how to participate.

4. Downtown Campbell's First Friday

Ok, so this last one isn't exactly a tasty food or drink but there will be some great live music to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Friday, May 3's First Friday event is Latin themed and will take place from 6-9:00 p.m. Live music includes: a bossa nova trio, a guitar and harmonica duo, a guitar soloist and a hip hop DJ spinning tunes.
