Construction Shuts E. Campbell Avenue Down Tonight

Construction at the former Gaslighter Theater to take place starting Aug. 29 through Sept. 7.

Campbell Avenue will be shut down tonight for roadwork in front of the former Gaslighter Theater.

The work being done at 400 E Campbell Ave. is an electrical service connection, said Campbell Public Works Civil Engineer Ed Arango. The building currently does not have electrical service.

There will be trenching to the site along E Campbell Avenue and because of the narrow roadway and proximity to the lightrail, the majority of the work is being done at night.

Notices of the work were sent to neighboring downtown businesses.

“The reasoning behind this is to minimize the impact to the downtown businesses and commuters,” Arango said.

The work will take about a week to complete and there will be traffic controllers during the day for incidental work, he said.

“But the only time we are shutting down Campbell Avenue completely is at night and next Tuesday morning,” Arango said.

The closure of E. Campbell Avenue between Central Avenue and the lightrail tracks will take place on Wednesday night, 10:00 p.m. to Aug. 29 7:00 a.m. until early Thursday morning, Aug 30. The road will also be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m.
