Campbell's shoe repair store leaves the Orchard City but opens its doors in Los Altos.
There's something about a disappearing trade: sign painting, appliance repair and cobblers. As these trades fade away, will people remember a time that items were fixed, not thrown away? Or will that, too become a distant memory?
has been a familiar sight along Winchester Boulevard in Campbell for the last 30 years. The shop repaired shoes, belts, purses, even convertible tops.
His business card reads "Willie will save your Sole."

The business is now relocating, opening up at Rancho Cobbler & Cleaner, 696 A Fremont Ave., Los Altos because the current site will be razed and in its place, Merill Gardens will pop up.
