Campbell Jokesters Pulled April Fools Pranks

Even the Campbell Patch Editor was pranked.

April 1 is a day where the world has fun with practical jokes. Campbell is no exception.

Campbell Union High School District Board Member Kalen Gallagher posted this Facebook status early April 1:

Find out what's happening in Campbellwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

"Proud to announce the CUHSD Board has changed the mascots of all our high schools, effective immediately. Introducing the Boynton Beatles, Branham Bunny Rabbits, Del Mar Doggies, Leigh Llamas, Prospect Penguins, and Westmont Whales."

The Olive Bar owners scared a few with this Facebook post:

Find out what's happening in Campbellwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

"We didn't think it would happen so fast, but it did — the time is right. WE ARE CLOSING, time to RETIRE!!!"

Campbell Patch Facebook readers shared these pranks with us:

  • Lance Wells: My sister made a mashed potato pie (dyed pink for that frosting look) and then told her kids if they cleaned up EVERYTHING they could eat dessert before dinner!! Also filled their juice cups up with Jello!
  • ShannonRudy Saenz: A middle schooler was eating vanilla yogurt out of Mayonaise jar!!
  • Lee Ann Erceg: Google Nose got me!

Campbell Patch Editor Mayra Flores De Marcotte wasn't left unscathed either. The Campbell Patch Mom Squad ladies, Bethany Curran and Nicole Salacain sent us this email:

Mayra,

Nicole and I are feeling a little overwhelmed by our busy schedules now that the kids are getting older. So, we have been talking about what to do and have decided to make a big change to the Mom Squad.

We've decided to step down and make way for some new Moms to take over. We'll finish out the month of April, but then in May we will hand it over to you and whoever you choose as the new Mom Squad.

Sorry if this feels sudden to you, but we've been thinking about it for a while now. We really have loved writing the Mom Squad and working with you, but it's just time to move on. We know you will understand and will find some great new Moms to take it over.

We wish you luck and want to let you know that we hope we can all still stay friends. Feel free to call when you get this so we can talk it over.

Best Wishes,

Bethany (& Nicole)

After a giggle and a phone call, the ladies told me they had "Got Me" and apologized.
