Campbell: It's Time to Boogie!

The 35th annual Boogie on the Bayou takes place this weekend, May 18 and 19.

Campbell just knows how to throw a party and this weekend, the estimated 30,000 people that are expected will prove this.

On May 18 and 19, the Campbell Chamber of Commerce will present the 35rd annual Boogie on the Bayou, a free two-day food and music-centric festival that attracts thousands throughout the South Bay.

Alligator-on-a-stick, gumbo, Southern BBQ and of course, beignets will be offered by the various food vendors at the event but if your little one isn't keen on alligator, there's always the kettle corn!

The event is family-friendly, with an entire area, "Crawdaddy Kids Corner" dedicated to the youth (and young-at-heart), complete with carnival-style rides adjacent to Rocket Fizz of Campbell.

Inside the candy and soda store, the Campbell Community Center's SJG School of Music's Rock Workshop Bands will be performing live on May 18 at 11:30 a.m.

The event takes about 300 volunteers to man (interested in volunteering? Click here) and will host about 200 food and drink vendors.

The chamber will also be at hand to make sure people can really get into the New Orleans-feel with festive masks, beads and hats for sale, $5 each.

Boogie is free to attend and kicks off May 18 at 10:00 a.m. and goes to 6:00 p.m. The second day, May 19 goes from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Parking is available at the surrounding lots and garages, including the First and Second Street Parking Garages. No pets allowed. Service animals OK.
