Attention Shutterbugs: Contest Closes Friday

Campbell's 'Let's Move, Let's Play' photo contest entry deadline is Friday.

In anticipation of Campbell's upcoming "Let's Move, Let's Play" event on Sept. 24, Aperture Academy and the Campbell Parks and Recreation Commission are holding a photo contest to raise awareness about healthy living opportunities in Campbell.

The "Let's Move, Let's Play Campbell" photo contest will involve taking pictures of people playing in Campbell.

"We want to pictures of folks on the trail, on the track, taking dancing lessons, volunteering," said Cynthia Bojorquez, Campbell's recreation and community services director. "Whatever it means to play in Campbell, we want to capture those photos."

Photos for the contest need to be submitted on Aperture Academy's website by 11:59 a.m. Friday. The grand-prize photograph will be displayed on the city's website and the Aperture Academy's website, as well as on the cover of a future City Activity Guide. The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate and a 20-visit fitness pass to the Campbell Community Center. The winners will be announced at the Sept. 24 event.

The top 100 photos will be posted on Aperture Academy's website by Aug. 1. The public can vote on their top photos from Aug. 2-26. The top 10 images will be displayed on Aperture Academy's website on Aug. 30.

According to the contest's FAQ sheet:

  • You must be 18 years or older to submit.
  • A maximum of four entries per person are allowed.
  • Photos must be submitted in JPG format, be a minimum of 640 pixels on the longest side, cannot exceed 1MB in size.
  • Images must have a resolution of 72 PPI.
  • Images must have no watermarks or signatures.
  • Images must be taken within the city of Campbell.

The Let's Move campaign was launched by First Lady Michelle Obama in 2010 as an effort to help combat childhood obesity in America.
