Ask Santa for a Rescue Pet this Holiday Season

Regional animal shelters hope to get adult pets "forever homes" for just $12.

The Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (SVACA) joined a handful of Silicon Valley animal shelters as part of an adoption effort during the holiday season.

During the month of December, all adult pet adoptions from the center are $12. The goal for the month is to have 1,200 pets adopted.

All the shelters get overwhelmed with pets this time of year, and the six shelters are teaming up to help the pets find homes, according to the San Jose Animal Care Center.

All the pets available for adoption can be seen at www.sheltersfirst.org.

As of Wednesday morning, 21 pets have been adopted through the initiative, according to the website.
