AAA Delivers Thanksgiving Turkeys to Bay Area Nonprofits

Donations will benefit thousands of hungry people on Thanksgiving Day.

AAA plans to deliver more than 600 frozen turkeys to nonprofit organizations to feed thousands of hungry people on Thanksgiving Day in the Bay Area.

AAA kicked off the turkey donation Tuesday, delivering 53 turkeys to San Francisco's Glide Memorial Church, located at 330 Ellis St.

This donation will provide 1,163 pounds of meat to the San Francisco community for Thanksgiving Day meals, AAA Northern California spokeswoman Cynthia Harris said.

For the 15th consecutive year, AAA's yellow tow trucks will transport turkeys to local nonprofits, where the birds will be prepared into meals for the holiday, Harris said.

AAA's annual Thanksgiving turkey delivery program aims to deliver 10 tons of turkey throughout the week to 26 nonprofits in Northern California, Utah and Nevada, Harris said.

"A lot of families would otherwise be unable to feed their families on Thanksgiving as a result of the economic challenges that many are facing this year," Harris said.
