Campbell residents can receive a free pint of ice cream by donating a pint of blood now through the end of August.

Starting today, Campbell residents will be compensated with a pint of ice cream for donating a pint of the vital, life-saving fluid to the American Red Cross.

The "Pint for Pint" promotion will offer donors at participating blood centers a free coupon for a pint of ice cream, according to the Red Cross.

The promotion, which runs through the end of August, is designed to encourage people to donate blood during a time Red Cross officials call challenging.
