A Fourth of July in Campbell

A black and white look at life in Campbell.

This week's history photo is a black and white image showing C.L. Willett's General Merchandise Store (Campbell's First Grocery Store opened 1889?) and the Campbell Hall next door.

There are people out in the street in front are celebrating the Fourth of July and all of the buildings have flag poles with American Flags flying.

The photo, taken between 1889 and 1894 shows the South side of Campbell Avenue between Central Avenue and the Railroad Tracks and is believed to be from the "Santa Clara County Free Library, San Jose, Calif."  Written in black ink is "Fourth of July Celebration at Hall (Campbell)."
