Campbell Optometric Group Honored at California Small Business Day
By Assemblyman Paul Fong
Campbell Optometric Group was honored on June 10 in Sacramento as Assembly District 28’s small business of the year for their hard work and dedication to the community.
Assemblyman Paul Fong states that Drs. Arthur Low, Rodney Lum, and Jane Lo have all contributed to the local community by being active in the Chamber of Commerce, service clubs like the Lions and Rotary, and other community based groups.
California Small Business Day honored 75 small businesses for their contribution to the state’s economy. Small businesses account for nearly 90% of the net new job creation in California while accounting for 75% of the Gross State Product. Betty Jo Toccoli, President of the California Small Business Association, said that small businesses are the economic engine of our state.
Campbell Optometric Group was formed by 1978 and Dr. Arthur Low was one of the original partners. He has been president of the Santa Clara County Optometric Society, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and local president of two Campbell Lions Clubs. Dr. Low has also made 10 trips to Mexico with Lions In Sight to provide free eyecare, having treated thousands of people. He has also set up a county wide project to provide free eyecare to the indigent local population. Dr. Rodney Lum has been with Campbell Optometric Group since 2002 and has been a multi-year president of the Chinese Historical and Cultural Project, serves on the board of the Santa Clara County Optometric Society, and is also active with the Chamber. Dr. Jane Lo has been with COG since January of 2013 but has already been a very active member of the Campbell Rotary and has worked on several charity projects.
Dr. Low says “Campbell Optometric Group is honored to receive this award but giving back to the wonderful Campbell community is reward enough.”
