Have You Heard? It's Giving Tuesday!

What do you do after the post-Thanksgiving flurry of shopping activity ... Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday ... finally winds down?

For many, #GivingTuesday, in its second year, is becoming a tradition, and a way to give back to those in the community who are in need of a helping hand. #GivingTuesday is now the official start of the holiday giving season.

Taking part is easy. Is there a local organization you support? Go to their website or Facebook page and make a donation today, then share your passion for that organization with your Facebook or Twitter network - And don’t forget to tag it #GivingTuesday!

If you’d like to help somebody in your neighborhood directly, search through Benevolent.net, find a local person in need and make a donation to them. Benevolent works with local nonprofit organizations to identify low-income individuals who need assistance and validate their needs.

Some local needs currently on the site include:
- Fred is a refugee and recent immigrant from Iran who needs $780 for tools to work as an auto mechanic.
- Flower comes from Eritrea and needs $390 for a sewing machine to help her become independent.
- Lordy is unemployed and learning a new trade, but needs $165 for tuition and school supplies.

However you choose to participate, or who or what organization you choose to support, please consider making a donation today, for #GivingTuesday, or anytime during the holiday season.
