An Evening on the Avenue

What's so delightful about Downtown Campbell? Just about everything.

With two small boys in the house, my husband and I make it a priority to go on dates. Ideally, monthly, though this isn't always possible.

Saturday night was date night and having nothing specific in mind other than enjoying this fabulous weather, we drove Downtown, parked, and spent two hours just enjoying this delightful little city.

Here's a few of the fun places we wandered by:

BYR of Belgium - we didn't stop here, this time, but are looking forward to trying out this German-Belgian themed restaurant - a very European spin on fast food complete with beer tastings! A simple menu of Belgian-style meatballs (traditional beef, turkey or vegan) a choice of sauces and a sampling of yummy and intriguing sides (like chervil soup) - with waffles (of course) for dessert. Definitely someplace we'll try with the kids in tow.

Sushi Confidential - I confess - we have NEVER checked this place out before! A little sushi, a little fusion, the menu was delectable but sadly, we walked in just before several large parites and were unable to be seated. Definitely going to check out Taco Tuesday (3 Ahi Poke tacos for $10). Clearly, we've been living under a rock to have missed this Campbell favorite.

Import Connection - Who can resist a room full of luxury cars? We wandered around these gorgeous vehicles for a bit, but to my dissapointment, Gabe refused to buy me the convertible Mercedes on display.

Watertower Plaza - Another place I've never been inside! This is beautiful office space, or even retail, meticulously landscaped and renovated. Truly, a hidden gem in our own backyard.

Gallery: Carla Almanza-deQuant - occupying the space of the former Duchess Intimates Boutique, this Venetian-inspired sculptor's creations make for beautiful windows. Looking forward to browsing during business hours...

We also peered in the plate-glass windows of the newest building in the former location of the Odd Fellows Hall. When will the open? Inquiring minds want to know!

We ended the evening on the upper balcony of Sonoma Chicken Coop -it wasn't anything new, but it was quiet and the sunset was beautiful. We watched the buzz across the street at Aqui (dreaming of the Sangria Swirls we'd enjoy the next time around) and smelled the delicious vanilla and chocolate wafting up from Frost Cupcake Factory

Campbell may be a small little town in the heart of the Silicon Valley, but this little town is all heart. With something to please just about any palate, and a host of options for anyone, what's not to love about our little Orchard City? Not a thing.
